The Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights has endorsed Debbie Dingell in her bid for the Democratic nomination and ultimately election to serve in the next Congress.

“We represent working men and woman across Michigan who want their member of Congress to work for them, not for the special interests,” said Mike Jackson, MRCC Executive Secretary-Treasurer. “Anyone who knows Debbie knows that she will fight for ordinary families, our jobs and our quality of life. She’s been a friend to people who work hard and play by the rules, and that’s why we’re pleased to endorse her for Congress.”

The MRCC represents 14,000 carpenters and millwrights across the state of Michigan. Its member carpenters help build diverse projects, large and small, residential and commercial. Union millwrights work with precision machinery, installing and maintaining everything from conveyor systems to turbines and generators.

“I am honored to receive the support and endorsement of Michigan’s carpenters and millwrights because they truly are champions for working men and women,” Dingell said. “They know what matters most to people: Having a job, good wages and training, quality health care and access to a quality education for themselves, their children and their grandchildren. I look forward to working with them and on their behalf.”

The MRCC endorsement comes as MIRS political newsletter named MRCC the best organization for a candidate to receive an endorsement, based on an analysis of endorsements in the last general election in 2012. In addition to financial support, the MRCC endorsement also comes with one of the most aggressive volunteer field programs on behalf of endorsed candidates.
