DEARBORN, MI – Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell announced the endorsement of her re-election bid by several national environmental organizations, including The Sierra Club, The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund, and Clean Water Action:
Of the endorsement, Tim Minotas, Legislative & Political Coordinator of the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter, said: “We are proud to support Congresswoman Dingell. As co-chair of the Great Lakes Task Force, protecting our Great Lakes is in her DNA. She has been a champion for our public lands and water, has stood up against the Trump administration’s environmental rollbacks, and has been instrumental in the fight against PFAS contamination. She understands the urgency of climate change, which is why she was one of the lead co-sponsors of the 100% Clean Economy Act and is working tirelessly to ensure we are leading on electric vehicles. With a track record like Congresswoman Dingell’s, we know she will continue to stand up for justice and the communities in which she serves.”
“Representative Dingell is a critical leader and ally in the fight against attacks on our bedrock environmental protections,” said LCV Action Fund SVP of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “She has helped lead efforts in Congress to ensure that all communities have clean air to breathe and water to drink and that our planet is preserved for generations to come and we are proud to support her.”
“Representative Debbie Dingell is a proven advocate for the health of Michigan’s communities as well as our air, land, and water that have been under attack over the past four years,” said Michigan League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Lisa Wozniak. “During her time in Washington, she has demonstrated incredible leadership on the issues that matter most to Michiganders, like preserving our Great Lakes and protecting public health, and we support her in continuing this important work.”
“Debbie Dingell is a fearless champion for our Great Lakes because she understands the duty we all have to protect that precious resource. Congresswoman Dingell continues to represent her constituents well by fighting for clean energy jobs and a federal budget that reflects the priorities of Michiganders,” said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. “Representative Dingell has been a leader in fighting the Trump administration’s dirty water agenda and other dangerous environmental rollbacks. She is a respected leader and will continue to prioritize our air, water, and climate. We are proud to endorse her campaign for the 12th District and look forward to continuing to work with her in Congress.”
“At a time when our water, wildlife, and way of life face unprecedented challenges and we need climate solutions, Representative Debbie Dingell is the rare leader who not only rises to the occasion but transcends it. Her vision, dedication, and ability to translate both into leadership in Washington is extraordinary,” said Collin O’Mara, president and CEO of the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. “Rep. Dingell has not only introduced the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act — the most significant wildlife-conservation legislation in a generation — but she also has worked across the aisle to secure for it a level of bipartisan support that is practically unheard of in this day and age. When the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act becomes law, it will be largely because of Rep. Dingell’s tireless commitment to finding common ground and safeguarding our wildlife and shared outdoor heritage for generations to come. We need more leaders like Rep. Dingell in Washington, and the people of Michigan’s 12th Congressional District are fortunate to have her as their voice in Washington. The National Wildlife Federation Action Fund is proud to enthusiastically endorse her for re-election.”
Congresswoman Dingell thanked the organizations for their support and observed: “We must work together to fight the damaging effects of climate change and protect the planet for future generations. I am committed to continuing the work with these partners in environmental justice and preservation, one of the most important fights of our time. We need action on climate change, action to protect clean air and clean water, and action to support a clean economy.”
